HOWARD COUNTY SAFETY PROTOCOLS
FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The Howard County Office of Physical Education and General Council have developed new protocols for participation in physical education. They are as follows:
* Sneakers on, strapped or tied
* Nothing around the neck (necklaces, lanyards, garments)
* Nothing around the wrist (watches, bracelets)
* Nothing on the hands (gloves, rings)
* Nothing on the ears or hard objects on the head (earrings, hard or sharp hair holders)
NOTE: Stud Earrings are acceptable
* Nothing sharp in pockets (pencils, pens, keys)
* No dangling clothing (scarves or baggy clothes)
* Hair kept back out of the face

Appropriate footwear is defined as athletic-type, non-marring sneakers. Fashion footwear (crocs, boots, chunky heels, clogs, Keens), flip-flops and sandals are not appropriate footwear for physical education.
